"Set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place for the latest match." (IMDb)

I think this is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. I can't escape a conversation without talk of the Suzanne Collin novel to movie adaptation. Fans of the series are hoping the movie won't disappoint and everyone in the industry is waiting to see if this will reach The Twilight Saga's status. I won't even bring Harry Potter up to the plate in comparison yet, because no matter how badly people think the movies were done in comparison with the books, that series had the most epic box office turnout.

This movie starring Jennifer Lawrence probably going to give her well deserved attention. I've seen a few older movies with her in them, and she's probably somewhere on the list of underrated young actresses. I won't even allow myself to watch the trailer when it comes on, because I haven't read the book yet. I'm one of those people where as soon as you hear about an upcoming movie, you rush to read the book. I haven't had to time to even start, but I will during the next break I get.

Suzanne Collins, who is writer of the novel was one of the writers for the screenplay, which should mean fans shouldn't be disappointed. Gary Ross, who's previous credits include Seabiscuit, and the 90's flick Pleasantville is writer and director of The Hunger Games. His credits may have people curious over whether he's the right person for the soon to be franchise, but I'm sure people will love it regardless.

The Hunger Games opens in theaters March 23rd. Check out the trailer below. What do you think?

For some crazy reason, every full trailer I found wouldn't let me embed it, so here is a shorter version. For a full trailer click to, IMDb
