Fall TV Preview

Many prime-time TV watchers already have their must-watch lists for the fall TV season. But once again, there are so many exciting, new shows coming and I don't know where to start! In addition to your favorites returning from last season, there are a lot of new titles being added to The Big Four's schedule.

Here are some titles you may want to add to your list this fall.

Via Fox
Almost Human
(Monday, November 4th, 8pm on Fox)
"[A] this futuristic cop drama from Fringe's J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman. This action-packed series is set 35 years in the future where human LAPD officers (Karl Urban's John Kennex) are partnered with highly evolved androids (Michael Ealy's Dorian)" (Fox & TV Guide).

Michael Ealy on network television? I'm in! Besides that, the premise of the show is interesting and having J.J. Abrams as executive producer should draw in Fringe fans or anyone looking for a good sci-fi/action series.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
(Tuesday, September 17th, 8:30pm on Fox)
"A a new single-camera ensemble comedy about what happens when a talented, but carefree, detective and his diverse group of colleagues get a new captain with a lot to prove " (Fox).

I actually have high-hopes for this show. Fox is really trying to up their game when it comes to comedy Tuesdays (new show Dads, hits The Mindy Project & New Girl). Not sure if it'll ever give networks CBS and ABC a run for their money, but why not try?

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
(Tuesday, September 24th at 8pm on ABC)
"Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films, as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary" (ABC).

Just taking a look that production team is enough for me. But if you're not into the Marvel's films, then maybe this isn't the show for you.

The Crazy Ones
(Thursday, September 26th, 9pm, CBS)
"a single-camera workplace comedy about a larger-than-life advertising genius whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behavior would get him fired... if he weren't the boss. Simon Roberts is the head of a powerful agency, with the biggest clients and brands in the world, but even more important to him is having his daughter Sydney by his side" (CBS).

Sarah Michelle Gellar returning to a TV series after Ringer did not do so well...I'm excited to see what Robin Williams and Gellar bring to the table.

The Originals
(October 3rd, 9pm on CW)
"The Vampire Diaries spin-off tells the story of the world's original vamps, Klaus (Joseph Morgan), his brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and sister Rebekah (Claire Holt), as they return to New Orleans, the city they built, to reunite with Klaus' former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who now rules the city with an army of obedient vampires and witches. Klaus chooses to stay after he learns that Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is pregnant after their one-night stand, and their child could one day be king of the city" (TV Guide).

I love me some Vampire Diaries, what can I say? And no matter how bad he's been, Klaus has secretively been one of my favorite characters. Besides, Vampire Diaries left you hanging when Klaus returned to New Orleans determined to win back his city. So I'll definitely be watching this. CW this fall also has some buzz-worthy new shows, Reign and The Tomorrow People

Hostages
(Monday, September 23rd, 10pm on CBS)
"Based on an Israeli series that was never produced, the suspense thriller stars Toni Collette as Ellen Sanders, a surgeon who is hired to operate on the President of the United States. A rogue FBI agent (Dylan McDermott) kidnaps the Sanders family and threatens their lives lest Ellen kill the president" (TV Guide).

Not only does the description seem like a great TV thriller, but the trailer is what got me to add it to my watch list. Not sure how this will stretch out over the course of 15 episodes. Guess we'll have to watch and see.

Now these are just a few of the many shows airing within the next few weeks. Favorites are returning like Big Bang Theory, GleeModern Family, New Girl, HIMYM, Scandal, Nashville, Arrow, Revenge...there are too many to name! Even American Horror Story: Coven returns with another creepy season--look at that trailer! Other honorable mentions: Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (ABC), Sleepy Hollow (Fox) & Witches of East End (Lifetime). I'm hoping Witches is better than the short-lived Eastwick.

  2. The only new show that you mentioned that I'm actually watching is Brooklyn Nine Nine, and it's pretty funny too. Also into Sleepy Hollow. But I think I might give Being Human a try.

    Great roundup, Bianca.
