An upcoming movie titled Spring Breakers, by Harmony Korine has been all the buzz lately. Mainly because it said to star James Franco, Emma Roberts, Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez. The movie will tell the story of four college girls who rob a restaurant to pay for their trip to the beach, reports Variety. The project is said to be risque, which would be a big change for Selena Gomez, who has established her fan base with Disney Channel; as well as Vanessa Hudgens, but she's left that all together (her most recent films Sucker Punch, and Beastly)
If the deals are sealed, Roberts would play a southern gal "who feeds off danger", and Gomez would play "the good girl", who is religious, and isn't that much of a thrill seeker. James Franco will co-star as a drug and arms dealer who bails them out of jail.
This is exciting to me, because I've been waiting for Gomez to leave Disney--not permanently but just to get herself out there as a serious actress, because I don't think Disney is helping her as far as branching out goes. Fans of the Wizards of Waverly Place star shouldn't get too excited yet, because nothing has been set in stone. This should be interesting, to see what actually happens when things are finalized with the movie.
