According to the Hollywood Reporter, not even Charlie Sheen brought in that many views during his run. Critics couldn't wait until the premiere was over to review Kutcher's first show. According to some of the reviews, critics didn't appear to be impressed at all about the premiere, nor did they think that Kutcher delivered well.
The premiere began with the death of Sheen’s character, Charlie Harper, and the introduction of Internet billionaire, Walden Schmidt (who purchases Harper’s home after showing up on its doorstep following a failed suicide attempt). It was expected that the first episode of the series without Charlie Sheen would bring in a large number of viewers. Now, we just have to wait and see if the show actually holds up.
I never was interested in the show when Charlie Sheen was on it, and I don't think I'll be tuning into it now. Mainly because well, I watch enough already. But hopefully it holds up alright.
