I sure love a good thriller. Screenwriter Steve Knight sure has people excited about the film. Knight is finally returning to the thriller genre since the Oscar nominated film, Eastern Promises (Viggo Mortensen). And Knight definitely did his homework. For the screenplay, he attended trials, observing "people in pressure-cooker situations: someone facing 20 years in prison, for instance" (FocusFeatures). I also think the casting choices for this film were just right. Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall's filmographies have had their ups and downs, but I think this project will be great for them.
Steve Knight also said this about the upcoming film, “Closed Circuit is a story of skullduggery and things gone wrong. I do feel that the British judicial system is in pretty good shape, but it needs to be examined every now and again. In writing this screenplay, I spoke to many people in the legal profession who care that it be just and right. I hope this comes across in our movie" (FocusFeatures).
And I think it will. Closed Circuit opens in theaters August 30. Check out the trailer below. What do you think?
