"When her mom is attacked and taken from their home in New York City by a demon, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl, Clary Fray, finds out truths about her past and bloodline on her quest to get her back, that changes her entire life." (IMDb)

I remember first seeing the trailer for this in theaters when I saw the last Twilight installment. It looked interesting. It wasn't until I looked further into it that I found out it was another book to movie adaptation...of course. That's all they're doing nowadays, right?

Anyways, the movie looks promising and I'm determined to read it before it comes out. Or at least finish reading it while it's still playing in theaters so I can go see it. The story is based on Cassandra Clare's novel Mortal Instruments series. In the series you get your dark magic, family secrets and love triangles all in one. IMDb has buzzed that Harry Potter fans should be pleased and with the love triangle dynamic, Twilight fans will enjoy it as well. I think casting Lily Collins as the leading lady was a right choice. I also think Clary Fray was an interesting choice. While I don't have a problem with him, I'll be paying close attention to his performance throughout the movie. This movie--and probably soon to be series--is under Sony, looking to make a franchise as big as Harry Potter or Twilight.

I have high hopes for this movie...wait...I said the same thing about Beautiful Creatures. So let me not jump on the bandwagon so quickly, especially since I haven't even read the book yet. But overall I think the film will be a success.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opens in theaters August 23rd. Check out the trailer below, what do you think?
