New Music Tuesday: Christina Aguilera's Lotus

Christina Aguilera's highly anticipated album Lotus is being released today!  About a month ago the pop songstress revealed the official cover for her seventh studio album. And today, the wait is finally over. Back in September when Aguilera graced the cover of Billboard she also talked about the idea behind the album and gave readers an exclusive first listen. Aguilera explained that this album is her resurrection, representing "a celebration of the new me" (Billboard).

Aguilera continued, “And to me the lotus has always represented this unbreakable flower that withstands any harsh weather conditions in its surroundings, that withstands time and remains beautiful and strong throughout the years. Once I could start writing my own songs, beginning with Stripped, I tried to infuse as much as I could to promote strength and inspire people with that message. And now I’m at a place at 31, where the last time I felt this way was when I was 21 with Stripped and I had a lot to say and a lot to express” (Billboard).

Well I personally think Stripped was her best album. I will admit, I was nervous about listening to the preview but after taking a listen I became really excited for the album. Now that the album is released I've gotten a chance to listen to more of the songs and am liking what I'm hearing. This is definitely a new Christina and I may find myself buying some of the tracks from iTunes.
