Yup, I typed that correctly. The infamous girl group the Spice Girls, reunited in London on Tuesday to launch "Viva Forever!" the new musical based on their songs (Gossip Cop). The Spice Girs revealed the news at the same U.K. hotel their first hit single "Wannabe" was fimed in 1996.
I'm pretty sure many people may cringe at the idea, but I LOVE IT. Seeing as how I was a super Spice Girls fan way back when. Don't worry, this won't be a repeat of their 1997 film "Spice World". Judy Craymer who is the creator of "Mama Mia!" will be behind the new stage show according to LA Times. "Viva Forever!" will tell the story of four friends centered around an American Idol-styled singing competition led by Viva, "a young woman with a chaotic home life who looks to resolve feelings about her adoption through belief in herself, female friendship and, well, 'girl power' (LA Times).
Craymer the producer has clarified that this will not be a tribute show. "It isn’t just an excuse to put the Spice Girls’ songs on stage," she said. "It’s a beautiful story, properly told. Whether you like the Spice Girls or not you will love these songs within a musical" (LA Times).
In case you're still not won over Mel B aka "Scary Spice" said the stars of the musical "sing better than us" (Gossip Cop). The musical opens December 11th at London's Piccadilly Theatre.

I know you never liked them, but I'd like to see this come to the U.S.
