Julianne Hough graces the cover of Cosmopolitan's February, 2013 issue. Gossip Cop has the scoop and reports that in the interview, the actress confesses that she was abused as a child while in London, training to become a dancer (Gossip Cop).

Hough is set to star in the upcoming film Safe Haven, in which she plays a survivor of domestic abuse opens up to the magazine about her traumatic experience while studying at the Italia Conti Dance Academy of Arts in England."I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer. I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same,  and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love", Hough reveals (Gossip Cop).

Things then took a turn for the worse. "While I was in London, I was abused, mentally, physically, everything" Hough says. During the interview she declines to reveal who abused her or what that entailed. "I'm a very forgiving person, and I don't want to hurt anybody. What's past is past", she explains.

Hough recalls that the abuse worsened when she began puberty and began turning into a young woman. "This is the furthest I've ever gotten into my London situation “I was told if I ever went back to the United States, three things were going to happen. One: I was going to amount to nothing. Two: I was going to work at Whataburger. And three: I was going to end up a slut. So, it was like, I can’t go back. I have to be this person” (Gossip Cop).

While working on the film Safe Haven Julianne Hough worked through her emotions brought on from that traumatic period. Director of the film Lasse Hallstrom asked her to get into bed with co-star Josh Duhamel and talk about what she'd gone through in London, on camera, according to Gossip Cop.

“I went from bawling to containing to laughing to crying again. Josh was crying, I think it was the most therapeutic moment of my life”, Hough recalls (Gossip Cop).

Talk about some deep method acting. I had to look up Safe Haven because I didn't know too much about it. And while I'm not a fan of Julianne Hough, reading this story I've grown to respect her and this may make the film worth watching to see her performance. I'm not for the mushy, romance films but every now and then if I'm in the mood I'll watch one. Safe Haven opens in theaters on Valentine's Day...how sweet.
