Gossip Wednesday: Is this Mariah Carey vs. JLO Feud Real?

I'm not even sure how all of this started, but as I was trying to view my Fall TV Scorecard the other day to figure out which of my fav shows have been renewed/cancelled, all I saw on the sidelines was Mariah Carey's name. I'm curious so I click and discover there’s an apparent “feud’ between singers Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey. Let’s get into it.

I was able to get the full scoop from E! So apparently over a decade ago, Mariah Carey was spotted by paparazzi and said that she “didn’t know” who Jennifer Lopez was. I mean, really? If I could do my favorite emoji with the side glance it would be inserted right here. Who doesn’t know J to tha l-o?Obviously, reporters took this to the next level and saw Mariah’s comment as a dig at Jennifer Lopez.

Rumors of a feud between the two singers that began to surface in the early 2000s are now being reignited. Now, we all know Mariah Carey is known for her diva ways but perhaps this is all a big misunderstanding. Lopez is trying to put it behind her that’s for sure. The “Jenny from the Block” singer appeared on The Wendy Williams Show last Thursday and discussed the whole Mariah situation. You can watch it below.


In the clip, she explains “We’ve met many times” (E!). Apparently, Mariah doesn’t remember that. Her latest comment is what has everyone buzzing. TMZ caught Mariah leaving an event on Monday and once again went straight to dissing the songstress. She’s asked her opinion about people bringing up her “I don’t know her” comment again after almost a decade. Mariah laughs it off and says “I still don’t know her!”. Welp.

This wouldn’t be the first time the feud rumors resurfaced. In 2014, Jennifer Lopez went on Watch What Happens Live in an attempt to squash the rumors.

     "I know from back in the day, I've read things that she's said about me that were not the greatest, but we have never met. Like, we don't know each other. I think it's kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I'm not really aware of…I would love to meet her and I would love to be friends with her...I think she's incredibly talented and I've always been a fan of hers. 'My All' is one of my favorite songs of all time. I just love her. It saddens me to hear anything that's negative because I'm a fan of hers", she told Andy Cohen (E! + 2014)

But wait…she did in fact reveal that they have never met. So what’s this feud really about? Everyone wouldn’t be making a huge fuss if there wasn’t some bad blood, right?

With everything laid out, I still think Mariah Carey’s a little shady and Jennifer Lopez is trying to clear everything up. You keep doing you, honey.
