Say what?! Michele Obama won't be actually singing in the song. Instead she's enlisted a star lineup that includes: Kelly Clarkson, Zendaya, Missy Elliott, Lea Michele, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae, Jadagrace, and Chloe & Halle. Basically it's gonna be a power anthem.
#WhoRunTheWorld?
Are you getting pumped yet? Just seeing the names Missy and Janelle Monae alone are enough to get me excited. The fact that all of these female powerhouses will be on one track together and for a great cause will only result in greatness.
Proceeds from the song will go towards the Let Girls Learn initiative, launched by the President and First Lady to educate girls around the world who are not in school.
The song is written by songwriter Diane Warren and features the lyrics "This is for my girls, all around the world/ There's beauty in your soul, that's what makes you beautiful".
Today, Obama gave a keynote speech at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin. Joined by Queen Latifah, Sophia Bush, Missy Elliott, and Diana Warren, Michelle Obama sat down to discuss Let Girls Learn initiative.
No word yet on when the song will be released but you can get a sneak peak of "This Is for My Girls" below.
