Wednesday Buzz: "Fifty Shades of Grey" to be Movie Adaptation

It looks as if the "mommy porn" novel, as Gossip Cop calls it, will be heading to the big screen. It was announced on Tuesday that Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, who produced The Social Network, will be teaming up again to transform the bestselling novel, Fifty Shades of Grey into a movie.

Universal purchased the rights to the trilogy by E L James in March, according to Gossip Cop. "At it's core, Fifty Shades of Grey is a complex love story, requiring a delicate and sophisticated hand to bring it to the big screen", said Universal in a statement (Gossip Cop). The move studio also said that De Luca and Brunetti's previous movie credits are proof that the two producers are the right duo for the film.

E L James is also "thrilled that Mike has joined Team Fifty. He brings a passion for and in-depth understanding of the characters and the story and a wealth of experience in making quality films" (Gossip Cop).

Fifty Shades of Grey is an intense, "dominant-submissive erotic relationship between a college student, Anastasia Steele and young billionaire Christian Grey" (Gossip Cop).

There have already been rumors about casting Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries) among many others, but no one has been officially cast yet. Casting decisions will probably soon go underway with both producers now on board.

  2. I can't believe they are making a movie about this book already! I think Ian is pretty hot so I wouldn't mind seeing him on the big screen, if I even see this in theaters.
