Prince (June 7, 1958-April 21, 2016)
I honestly have no words right now.
I don't think a post can capture exactly how I'm feeling at the moment.
Today, the world lost an incredible spirit.
Prince, music legend has died at the age of 57 on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
This man broke barriers, and has influenced every other artist that has come after him. His music was universal. No matter what race, what music genre you preferred, everyone knew and loved a Prince song.
His singing style was on a whole other planet. He was more than just a singer. Prince was a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and actor. #genius
He transformed the music scene and caused controversy and didn't let that stop him. He fused rock, R&B, soul, funk, jazz, pop, this disco-psychedelia sound and made it into his own. It became what we knew and recognized him for.
This death hits a little closer to to home because of the huge impact he had on my mother. She had the honor of seeing him in concert and from what I've heard, no one put on a show like him. The way in which he commanded the crowd, or in fact ignored the audience all together and just played for himself (as my mother describes it) leaves me in awe. Growing up, I couldn't get away from a Prince song, a special he did on TV, a concert that was taped on VHS. I recall at a very young age (well my mom does anyways) just singing along to "P Control", "Aaaaah, P**** control, OH", not understanding a single bit. His presence was around me and I've no doubt my love of music was stimulated by him in some way.

My condolences go out to his family and loved ones. This innovative artist will live on for generations. Prince was truly one of the most unique and gifted artists of all time. Ugh.
Prince, may you rest in peace.
