You know what they say, if ain't broke...
On Sunday, it was confirmed that that actress Emma Stone will be portraying Cruella de Vil in an upcoming adaptation of 101 Dalmations.
Whenever I think of 101 Dalmations, I think of Glenn Close as the iconic villain from the two live-actions adaptations in 1996 and 2000.
It's rumored that this new movie will be a spin-off sorts, seeing Emma Stone as a young Cruella de Vil.
And just what other new live-action movies that Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures have confirmed, you ask? Dumbo (Tim Burton directing), Maleficent 2, A Wrinkle in Time, Jungle Cruise, (starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), a Mary Poppins sequel (starring Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda), The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, The Jungle Book 2 (Jon Favreau), and a Tinker Bell project starring Reese Witherspoon.
Whew. Now that's a lot to take in.
I feel pretty indifferent about the news. I knew something like this wouldn't be far off seeing as how we're about to get a second Alice in Wonderland movie. And usually if one format continues to work for studio and make them money, they're going to stick with that. I will say however, that I'm pretty pumped to hear about Lin Manuel-Miranda starring in a Marry Poppins sequel/spin-off/whatever you wan't to call it. I'll be in the theaters to see that!
What do you think of all the casting news? Excited or not? Let us know!
