Wednesday Buzz: Heathers Revival In The Works

That's right, according to TV Guide the 1988 cult classic Heathers is in the works to become a brand new TV anthology series.

Deadline Hollywood has reported that TV Land has placed an order for the pilot script to be written. According to the media outlet, the first season will be set in the present day. For those of you aren't hip...you need to get on that. The original film starred Winona Ryder as Veronica Sawyer who surrounds herself with a snobby clique known as The Heathers. After the dark and mysterious new kid J.D. (Christian Slater) moves to town, all hell breaks loose as the two plot to kill the cool kids.

The TV Land show of Heathers will follow Veronica Sawyer who has to deal with her own "vicious group of Heathers" (TV Guide). Who knows if she'll also end up dating a dangerous sociopath, plotting murders with him, or staging her best friend's "suicide" (Whoops, spoiler alert!).

Even though the pilot script has been ordered, it doesn't mean this will actually happen. Each year pilot season for TV sees so many new shows that never quite make the cut or get picked up by any networks. So I'll have to keep you posted about this one.

I'm still not sure if I'm sold yet...I mean I definitely will be watching if it makes it to TV Land. I loved the original movie and am always looking for new shows to watch. Not to mention, the TV anthology format seems to be working really well as of late thanks to Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Scream Queens, American Crime Story).

Only time will tell. Maybe we'll even get an appearance by Winona Ryder on the show? I'm getting ahead of myself here, but a girl can dream. We already know that Beetlejuice 2 is in the works so anything's possible!

What do you think of the Heathers reboot? Yay or nay?
