¡No Me Digas! Gossip Wednesday: Dirty Dancing Remake

Source: Amazon
Just announced by E! News that there will be a remake of the movie, Dirty Dancing. There is no set cast at the moment. All that is known is that the new movie will be directed by Kenny Ortega, who is the original movie's choreographer. Ortega's previous credits include, High School Musical and Micheal Jackson's This is It.

Lionsgate will be stepping it up a notch for this movie, in similar fashion to the dancing hit shows, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing With The Stars. Ortega commented by saying, "Patrick Swayze set the bar for men dancing in the movies as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire did before him. I believe everywhere you look there is evidence that the talent is out there and I can't wait to begin the process of discovering the next breakout triple-threats."

The original Dirty Dancing movie starred Patrick Swayze as summer resort dancer instructor Johnny Castle and Jennifer Grey as Frances "Baby" Houseman, his unlikely dance partner and love interest. The movie went on to earn more than $215 million. It's sequel, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, was not so much of a hit.

Jennifer Grey also made a comment on news of the remake saying, "I'm so excited about this news, and I think there's nobody better to do this than my beloved Kenny Ortega, who is as responsible as anyone for the success of the first one. I can't wait to see what he's going to do with it". Well, neither can I for that matter.

  1. This should be interesting + because in the long line of re-makes, nothing is truly as good as the original.

  2. Very true. And, I think I will take you up on the advice about talking about remakes :)
