Gossip Wednesday: The Munsters Remake In the Works

Bryan Fuller (Heroes, Dead Like Me), creator of the ABC short lived show, Pushing Daisies is said to be in the works of developing a remake of 60's show, The Munsters.

After NBC's rejection of the script last year, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt asked Fuller to take another stab at it. He has already met with NBC executives about revising the show. Old fans of the show, don't get too excited quite yet. It won't be the same black-and-white classic sitcom. Bryan Fuller's take on The Munsters will be edgier, and a more dark, hour-long show. Fuller will be digging a little deeper into the show, exploring how this interesting family living on 1313 Mockingbird Lane, came to end up where they are.

Of course the show will have it's comedy, and all the same loveable characters; Herman Munster (Patriarch of the household), His wife Lily Munster; cooky Grandpa; son Eddie Munster; and the oddly normal niece, Marilyn Munster.

Helping this remake along, Universal Media Studios, who produced the original show, which had it's two season run, will be producing the remake as well.

This should be interesting. I'm a fan of the original, so I'd like to see how Bryan Fuller puts a spin on this. No word yet on if exactly this is going pull through, or when it is expected to air. I do know that The Munsters is only one of several revivals that the networks are looking at for their upcoming development season.

  1. It might be ok yet still it won't compare to the original + I won't be sitting on my hands waiting for this one.

  2. Neither will I, but I'd rather see this then a "Bewitched" remake.
